Miami Heat interested in Bradley Beal if they can't get Giannis

The Miami Heat have their sights set on Giannis Antetokounmpo next summer, hoping to add the two-time MVP to a roster that already proved they could get to the Finals. But according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, if that doesn't work out, the team has a backup plan: acquiring Washington Wizards star guard Bradley Beal.

Getting Giannis will likely prove a difficult task, as, unsurprisingly, a whole lot of teams are interested in the possibility of adding one of the most dominant players in the NBA. The Lakers, Warriors and Clippers are among the teams that have been linked to Giannis, and they are far from the only ones. 

And, of course, there's also the very real possibility that Giannis is never even available to any of these teams, as the Bucks are hopeful that their franchise star will sign a max extension to stay in Milwaukee rather than testing the free-agent market after the season. Giannis is reportedly meeting with the team this week to discuss the massive extension and there is a belief that he will agree to sign it.

So that leaves Beal. It makes sense that Miami would try and grab Beal. He is only 27 years old and is one of the league's elite playmakers, averaging over 30 points and six assists per game last season. The Heat could attempt to trade for Beal, as the Wizards may be willing to exchange him for a haul of assets if they feel he will leave anyway or if they fully commit to a rebuild.
