When he arrived for the postgame press conference, Miami Heat guard Jamaree Bouyea was wearing a Sioux Falls Skyforce sweatshirt.

While he said he wanted to rep the Heat's G League affiliate, there was a bigger reason.

"I was on the road with the Skyforce and this was all that I had in my suitcase," Bouyea said.

Bouyea was called upon out of necessity because the Heat only had 10 players available. He may have shown he is more than just a last option by having 10 points, three assists, three steals and two rebounds in a loss to the Denver Nuggets. It was just his third game.

The Heat were already thin with Duncan Robinson, Victor Oladipo and Kyle Lowry out, but things got worse when Tyler Herro was a late scratch. Bouyea had no problem making the quick adjustment.

"I think for the first two games, I was just trying to find my role and find my spots on the court and make the right plays,” Bouyea said. “With Tyler being out and Kyle being out and my teammates and Coach Spo believing in me, they just instilled confidence in me and told me to shoot the ball when I was open and make plays. So I think getting out there and getting comfortable was the biggest thing I had to do.”
