The Philadelphia 76ers broke the hearts of Miami Heat fans Wednesday night as they scored a thrilling 105-104 home win to send Tyler Herro and company to a do-or-die scenario in the Play-in Tournament. But there’s a particular set of people in the game that also had their dreams dashed by what happened near the end of the contest.

With Herro’s desperate 3-pointer with a second remaining in regulation, the total for the Heat vs. 76ers game hit the Over, leaving everyone who bet the Under wailing.

Tyler Herro’s 3-Pointer in Miami Heat vs. Philadelphia 76ers Leave Under Bettors Frustrated

The total line for the game was set at 208 and it looked as though the Under was going to be the result with both teams combining for only 179 points (91-88) when Herro buried a two-point jumper with 3:09 remaining in the fourth quarter. But the Heat and the Sixers combined for 30 points the rest of the way, capped by a 3-pointer by Herro off a pass from Haywood Highsmith with just 1.1 seconds remaining on the clock. That long-distance shot from Herro brought the total to 209, handing the Over bettors the backdoor win on their bets and leaving those with Under wagers sulking.

Heat Have 1 More Shot to Make The 2024 NBA Playoffs

Despite the loss to the 76ers, Herro and the Heat still have a chance to make the playoffs proper. They need to beat the Chicago Bulls on Friday at home if they are to prevent an early vacation. However, they might have to face the Bulls without Jimmy Butler because of an injury.
