Michael Jordan donating $10 million to open medical clinics in North Carolina

Michael Jordan is using his millions to help the community near his hometown of Wilmington, N.C.

The Chicago Bulls legend and Charlotte Hornets owner is donating $10 million to open two new health clinics. He's working with Novant Health, a non-profit health care group with hospitals and medical centers throughout North Carolina.

"Everyone should have access to quality health care, no matter where they live, or whether or not they have insurance," Jordan said. "Wilmington holds a special place in my heart and it's truly gratifying to be able to give back to the community that supported me throughout my life."

Novant Health says Jordan's donation will bring "comprehensive primary care, including behavioral health and social support services, to the area's most vulnerable communities."

The two clinics are scheduled to open in 2022 and both will offer "much-needed services to those who are uninsured or underinsured."

Jordan previously donated $7 million to open two health care centers in 2017. Those two clinics have seen over 4,500 patients and have given nearly 1,000 COVID-19 vaccine shots.
