Michael Jordan still hates Isiah Thomas, which was apparent from watching “The Last Dance.”
Episode four of the documentary dealt with the Chicago Bulls finally overcoming the Detroit Pistons in the playoffs by beating them in 1991 to break through en route to their first championship.
After beating the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals that year, the Bulls were perturbed that the Pistons walked off the floor without shaking hands. Jordan was bothered by that, noting in the documentary that they shook the Pistons’ hands despite losing to them two years in a row.
“That’s sportsmanship, no matter how bad it hurts,” Jordan said in a present-day interview.
That’s why it bothered him so much that the Pistons snubbed the Bulls in ’91.
Thomas was interviewed in the documentary to share his side of the events. Thomas said Bill Laimbeer instructed his Pistons not to shake hands. Thomas also justified their actions by saying the Boston Celtics previously did the same thing to them.
Nearly 30 years later, Jordan is still bothered by the Pistons' actions.
When the matter came up in an interview for the documentary, Jordan said whatever explanation Thomas had was “bulls—.”
“You can show me anything you want. There’s no way you can convince me he wasn’t an a–hole,” said Jordan.
Horace Grant, who regularly got pushed around and bullied by the Pistons, had similar thoughts.
“Straight up b—es,” Grant said of the Pistons.
After hearing all this — almost 30 years later — it’s no surprise that Jordan supported Thomas’ snub from the Dream Team. The Bulls didn’t like the Pistons, and MJ did not like Thomas.
