Michael Jordan's game-worn jersey from '98 Finals going up for auction
Michael Jordan fans, get your checkbooks ready.
Sotheby's announced on Wednesday that MJ's game-worn jersey from Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals is going up for auction, with bidding set to begin next month.
Given the significance of this game in Jordan's storied career -- and in basketball in general -- it won't surprise you that this piece of memorabilia will cost bidders a pretty penny to get their hands on.
In fact, it is being estimated that this jersey will be the most expensive piece of Jordan memorabilia to date, reaching upwards of $5 million.
"The 1997-1998 season is perhaps one of the most popular among Jordan fans, as Michael was reaching the height of his abilities while simultaneously pursuing what he understood would be his last chance at an NBA Championship with the Chicago Bulls," Brahm Wachter, Sotheby's head of streetwear and modern collectibles, said in a press release on Wednesday via CBS Sports.
Bidding is set to take place September 6-14.
