According to multiple NBA reports, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Mike Conley have agreed on a two-year extension.

Conley was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He’s making $24.4 million this season.

The 36-year-old Conley is averaging 10.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.2 blocks this season while shooting 44.4% from the field, 44.2% from beyond the arc and 92.3% from the free-throw line.

The Timberwolves acquired Conley from the Utah Jazz last season at the NBA trade deadline. Minnesota is in first place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 39-16 this season.

Conley leads the Timberwolves in assists per game and 3-point field goal percentage. He has a stellar plus-minus of +285 this season.

Conley has career averages of 14.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.2 blocks with the Memphis Grizzlies, Jazz and Timberwolves. The lefty was the fourth overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft out of Ohio State.

The Timberwolves haven’t won a playoff series since 2004 when they reached the Western Conference Finals. The Denver Nuggets eliminated Minnesota in the first round of the postseason last year.

Under head coach Chris Finch, the Timberwolves are 18th in the NBA this season in points per game and first in points per game allowed. Many people around the league believe Minnesota can win it all this year.

Conley’s best game of the season came against the Grizzlies on December 8. The veteran put up 19 points and seven assists against his former team while shooting 6-of-11 overall, 2-of-3 from deep and 5-of-5 from the foul line.
