The Milwaukee Bucks have tapped multi-titled coach Trevor Gleeson to become the team's new assistant coach. The 55-year-old essentially fills the spot vacated by Terry Stotts, who unexpectedly stepped down from his position before the start of the 2023-2024 season.

Veteran coach

The 55-year-old Gleeson comes with an impressive resume. He built a name for himself in Australia, winning five titles in the National Basketball League as head coach of the Perth Wildcats. He was also the league's Coach of the Year twice. He then moved to the NBA, bringing his experience and expertise as an assistant to Nick Nurse in the Toronto Raptors. That Raptors stint paved the way for Gleeson to build a strong working relationship with Adrian Griffin, who was also an assistant in Toronto during that time.

"First, I want to welcome Trevor Gleeson to our coaching staff," Griffin said before the Bucks faced off versus the Brooklyn Nets.

"Well-respected coach from Australia and the United States. Had the pleasure of working with him in Toronto. Five-time NBL champion. Brings a wealth of experience with him. Just a great all-around guy, so he'll make a great addition to our staff."

Someone Griffin trusts

Griffin added that he has already spoken to Gleeson about his role, and the latter would be around the team to get a feel for things. One thing is sure: Trevor has earned Adrian's trust, which will go a long way toward building a successful campaign.

"He's someone that I trust," Griffin said.

"He has a great mind for the game. But right now, I think we'll just ease him in and let him get acclimated to our team. But he's strong on both sides of the ball. He'll definitely start doing some of the scouts as he gets more comfortable."
