Anthony Edwards is on a mission to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to the second round of the NBA Playoffs for the first time in 20 years. Standing in their way are the Phoenix Suns, who without a doubt will be an extremely tough test for a young and hungry Wolves side.

On a personal level, Edwards will also have a point to prove as he looks to firmly establish himself as one of the top superstars in the game today.

Minnesota Timberwolves News: Anthony Edwards Speaks Out on His Potential

Edwards recently sat down for an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews and Austin Rivers. At one point, the two-time All-Star was asked to give an assessment of where he feels he is right now in terms of reaching his full potential. Apparently, Edwards believes that he’s barely scratched the surface:

“I’m probably at 40% right now,” he said. “… I’m just in Year 4. I think people forget that I’m 22. I’m not even touching my prime yet.”

Rivers then went on to make a bold declaration about Edwards potentially becoming the best player in the entire league in two or three years. When asked to comment on this massive statement, Edwards answered without any hesitation:

“Yeah, I 100% agree with him for sure,” he responded. “About two or three years.”

That’s an extremely confident take, to say the least, but seeing this young man’s trajectory in his first four years in the NBA, you actually can’t put this beyond him.

You also have to note that in two or three years, Edwards is going to be just 24/25, which means that he expects to have a lot of prime years ahead of him.

The rest of the NBA has to take notice.
