There have been more than a few times wherein Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards has drawn comparisons to the great Michael Jordan. In fact, Edwards himself agrees with the comparisons, at least when it comes to MJ’s early days in the NBA.

The greatest of all time has now shared his thoughts on the 22-year-old, and while Jordan doesn’t seem ready to liken the Wolves star to himself, it is also clear that MJ has been left impressed by what Edwards has been doing of late.

Minnesota Timberwolves News: Michael Jordan Sees Anthony Edwards as ‘Special’ Player

The folks on ESPN’s First Take got into an all-too-familiar animated discussion about how Edwards and the Wolves took care of business in their Game 1 win over the Phoenix Suns on Saturday. According to Stephen A. Smith, he personally called Jordan up to ask the six-time NBA champion about Edwards’ performance in the series opener.

Apparently, MJ had some high praise for the Minnesota stud:

“The brother is special. No question about it,” Jordan said, per Smith.

To be fair, Edwards did put on quite a show on Saturday night. The two-time All-Star emerged victorious in what turned out to be an epic duel against Kevin Durant, with Edwards going off for a game-high 33 points on 14-of-24 shooting, nine rebounds, six assists, two steals, and four triples in 36 minutes of action.

Edwards is on a mission to lead the Timberwolves to what they are hoping will be an extended playoff run, and it’s the Suns who are standing in the way of that lofty goal at the moment. All eyes will be on Edwards in Game 2 on Tuesday, which apparently, will include a considerably intrigued Michael Jordan.
