Kobe Bryant played in his final NBA game on April 13, 2016, and “NBA 2K20” on Monday marked the four-year anniversary of that legendary 60-point performance with an announcement about how the video game has paid tribute to the late Los Angeles Lakers superstar.
The official Twitter account of “NBA2K20” has revealed that there are now eight unique challenges in the latest iteration of the popular video game series associated with iconic moments from Bryant’s Hall of Fame career.
“NBA 2K20” also tweeted out a tribute to Bryant featuring footage from the Black Mamba in different versions of game.
Along with the new set of challenges, “NBA 2K20” also revealed that gamers can download a free Pink Diamond Kobe card that commemorates his final game.
While Monday’s announcement was a most welcome distraction for NBA fans who also count themselves as gamers amid the ongoing league hiatus, the anniversary of Kobe’s final game served as a somber reminder to the Bryant family how the star, daughter Gianna and seven others perished in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif., on Jan. 26.
Bryant’s widow Vanessa marked the “Mamba Day” anniversary with a heartbreaking Instagram post in which she sadly noted, “Life truly isn’t fair.”
