Kevin O'Connor has taken a shot at Tare Young amid possible trade rumors wondering if any team would even want a player in his archetype.

Trae Young is going through the toughest start to a season since his rookie year. The Atlanta Hawks point guard seemed to have solidified himself among the best guard in the East, but this season hasn't been the best for Young. He is still scoring and assisting at a high rate, but he's been incredibly inefficient.

In addition, Young's relationship with coach Nate McMillan is no longer healthy. In these situations, teams usually fire the coach, but it's been alleged that Young is looking to be traded from Atlanta in the first year of his new contract extension.

With that coming out, reporter Kevin O'Connor openly wondered if Trae is even good enough for a team to put in major assets to have him lead the team.

Trae's lack of off-ball ability means he needs a team that will allow him to dominate the ball and create shots for the entire team. His lack of defense makes him incredibly one-dimensional and a possible risk for teams that may consider trading away multiple years of draft assets to get a young 2-time All-Star like Trae.

Is Tare Young Going To Be Moved?

The easy answer would be no because the Hawks would be insane to acquiesce to a trade request from Young as he enters the first year of his contract. Whatever is making Young upset, the Hawks might first fire the coach and clean the roster before trading Trae. That might become a reality given the locker room is also not on Tare's side and are likely to choose McMillan over the star point guard.

The team went all-in with the Dejounte Murray trade and that fit just hasn't worked out the way people thought it would. If Trae can mature and alter his play style to be more team-friendly, the Hawks can be among the best in the league. Sadly, they haven't figured that out just yet and time is running out this season.
