NBA best bets: Wiesguy's 2 Picks and a Prop for 1/16

Hey there, I hope you had a good weekend. It was a much better-than-expected batch of NFL games with one more tonight.

I know it can be hard to remember what happened on Friday by the time that Monday rolls around, but we had another winning day, 2-0-1, thanks to the Knicks pushing against Washington.

Rookie Jabari Smith scored more than his PRA total. He might be finally figuring it out and is a player to watch and win with.

Today we have a slate of afternoon games so don't wait too long to fire away.

Picks and Prop Records

NBA Sides:  10-5-1

NBA Props: 4-4

Winning Days: 6 (of 8)

Friday, January 13th In Review

New York Knicks -4 (push)
The Knicks got the win and are definitely becoming more reliable as their identity solidifies.

Orlando Magic +6 (win)
A 4-point loss got the job done. I thought they might win outright but they kept it close.

Jabari Smith Over 19.5 Points, Rebounds, and Assists (win)
27 points was a career-high for the rookie. They have to keep him involved even when games are not competitive for his development.

NBA Picks for Monday, January 16

Golden State Warriors -2.5 (at Washington Wizards)
Golden State has been awful as a road team this season. It does not make any sense though. This is a decent spot and a small number against a Wizards team missing Bradley Beal and perhaps Kristaps Porzingis too. Steph Curry is back on the floor but has not been himself quite yet. I know we have to hold our nose here, especially since the Warriors lost at the Bulls yesterday. I am trying to get in early on their road resurgence.

Toronto Raptors +2.5 (at New York Knicks)
These teams have met twice this season and both times the road team has won and covered. New York won yesterday in Detroit, but they are just a .500 team playing with no rest. Toronto is off a loss to Atlanta and every home loss ups the urgency factor for the Raptors. I think we will get a spirited road effort and probably the win against a rival who might be a little gassed. New York has been a winner for us lately but the spot is not ideal.

NBA Prop

Grayson Allen Over 11.5 Points and Assists
You know I am always looking for these spots where the points alone feel really gettable. This is one of those. Allen is at just over 10ppg on the season but the pace of this one should provide lots of opportunity. This line is a little lower than normal and he has exceeded this prop in three of the last five games. Indiana is a good team to get your overs against. They are especially bad at defending the 3-point line too.
