The Hawks are embroiled in trade rumors. Whether it’s about John Collins, De’Andre Hunter, Dejounte Murray, or any other players, Atlanta seems to be the club most mentioned by the media, and Trae Young isn’t exempt.

Some NBA executives believe the star point guard will eventually request a trade, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

“The Hawks’ payroll isn’t sustainable based on market and production level, Pincus wrote. “Competing executives don’t believe the team will move Trae Young this offseason, though some anticipate the guard may eventually push for a trade.”

Trae Young’s time in Atlanta has been marred by trade rumors and tumultuous results. The team overachieved in 2021, reaching the conference finals, which probably set unrealistic expectations for the Hawks moving forward.

They were dismantled by the Heat in last year’s first round but decided to run it back with a similar roster and coaching staff. Eventually, wholesale changes came in the front office and staff, with Quin Snyder and Landry Fields taking over for Nate McMillan and Travis Schlenk.

I don’t think anyone would blame Young if he did force his way out of Atlanta. Ownership has completely ruined the franchise, and fans should have no faith in the Resslers. However, Trae Young has been one of the most prominent voices of support for Quin Snyder and the direction of the club.

It almost feels like this is the Hawks’ last opportunity to assemble a championship-caliber team with Snyder and Young. The pair are now tied to each other for better or worse.
