The Houston Rockets will have another opportunity to spend big in free agency this summer.
It may not be the same level of the spree they had last summer when Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks signed big contracts, but they might be able to land a big player or two.
Bleacher Report suggests Washington Wizards point guard Tyus Jones as an option.
"The Houston Rockets can get to around $12-13 million in cap space, but that would require the renouncing of some cap holds and the declining of some team options. The non-taxpayer's mid-level would put them in the same price range for free agents anyway," Bleacher Report writes. "Jones would be a decent option for them there, even with Fred VanVleet on the roster and Amen Thompson emerging as a 6'7" playmaker. Jones has been one of the game's best reserve guards for years, and his low-turnover game would be a solid change of pace from Thompson."
Jones, 27, is averaging a career-best 12.5 points per game as Washington's starting point guard. However, if he were to come to Houston, that likely wouldn't become his role. He would likely take over Aaron Holiday's spot in the rotation as a playmaking guard off the bench.
Point guard isn't exactly the Rockets' biggest need going into the offseason, but 3-point shooting is paramount and Jones' 42.7 percent clip from deep would certainly help Houston solve part of that problem.
