If any basketball fans weren’t believers in Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards before, he is changing their minds during the 2024 NBA Playoffs. He has been playing at a very high level, leading the team to some very impressive performances.

In the first round, the Minnesota Timberwolves swept the Phoenix Suns. Anthony Edwards went viral for some of the trash talk he was giving Kevin Durant, and it was all warranted. The Suns didn’t have an answer for him or the Timberwolves, as they won three out of the four games by double-digits.

After defeating the Suns, Minnesota drew a matchup with the defending champion Denver Nuggets. Through two games, it has been more of the same as we saw in the series against Phoenix.

Despite starting on the road, the Timberwolves find themselves up 2-0 in the series heading back home for Games 3 and 4. Anthony Edwards has been a driving force in both games, scoring 43 points in Game 1 and 27 in Game 2.

We are witnessing the blossoming of a two-way star before our eyes. Edwards has taken the challenge of head coach Chris Finch to be as productive defensively as offensively and it has helped take the team to new heights.

Watching Edwards do his thing has been a lot of fun for basketball fans. Former players have commented on how great he has looked, but one decided to take the conversation in a different direction.

Former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce made some bold comments about how he would perform against Anthony Edwards. In his prime, Pierce believes he should have shut down the Timberwolves star.

“In my prime, I’m putting clamps on ANT Man. He wouldn’t get more than 15 points 1v1 iso vs me,” Pierce said about defending Edwards.

That is quite a bold statement by Pierce, who owns 0 All-Defensive Team nominations in his NBA career. There are entire compilation videos of him struggling to stay in front of players defensively, as Anthony Edwards would find himself in those clips as well had Pierce had the chance to try and defend him one-on-one.
