In particular, having his defense would help the squad, as De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis aren't viewed as the best defenders.

A former All-Rookie selection, Davis is a guard that can drive to the rim and defend well on the perimeter. He could still develop into a capable starting guard in the future, and with Killian Hayes' struggles, perhaps it'd be best to try a new guard in the backcourt with Cade Cunningham.
The draft compensation would obviously be the next portion of the trade package, and two first-round picks should be enough to get the deal done. Overall, this is a solid trade for the Pistons, as it helps them along with building around Cade Cunningham.
