Eric Gordon could be headed to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Eric Gordon is currently a veteran on the rebuilding Houston Rockets, and he is well-known for his shot creation when coming off the bench. He has been a part of many good playoff runs with the team, and is regarded as a player who contributes well during the postseason.

The Houston Rockets have been trying to trade Eric Gordon for a while now, but have not been able to find a deal thus far due to their desire for a first-round pick in any deal. However, if they lowered their asking price, a deal could end up happening. A recent report from Jack Simone of Heavy revealed the words of an Eastern Conference Executive, who suggested that the Philadelphia 76ers could make a trade for Eric Gordon if the Houston Rockets come to their "senses".

With how unlucky they’ve been with injuries this season, adding extra help at the trade deadline could be in their best interest. And according to sources who spoke with Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports, one potential target could be Eric Gordon of the Houston Rockets.

“If Houston comes to its senses, it could happen,” an Eastern Conference executive told Deveney. “The Rockets want a high price for Eric Gordon. They want a first-rounder [with] no protections. They’re not getting that, probably not from anyone, and definitely not from Philly, which has no picks to offer anyway. If the Rockets want players or second-rounders, something could happen there. But again, you would have to give up some young guys, and Gordon has a pretty big contract [$19.5 million], so it is hard to see how the Sixers could match that without a third team getting involved.”

It remains to be seen if the Philadelphia 76ers do manage to trade for Eric Gordon in the future. He would certainly help them improve their depth, and could play a sixth man role coming off the bench.

Eric Gordon Is Also A Trade Target For The Los Angeles Lakers

Since Eric Gordon is a great veteran, there are also some other teams that have targeted the shooting guard. A previous report revealed that Eric Gordon is among the trade targets for the Los Angeles Lakers.

"In addition to the other names that have been attached to the Lakers, some others to watch that are expected to be available are Jae Crowder, Eric Gordon, Alec Burks, Terry Rozier, P.J. Washington, Kelly Oubre Jr., Josh Richardson and Jakob Poeltl, according to those sources."

There is no doubt that Eric Gordon would be able to help the Los Angeles Lakers improve offensively. However, giving up one of their first-round picks for him would be an overpay, and the Lakers should only pursue him if he's available without giving up draft compensation.

It remains to be seen where Eric Gordon ends up in the future. There is no doubt that he would be valuable for a number of teams who are trying to contend immediately, and we'll see whether he ends up getting moved ahead of this year's trade deadline.
