What seemed remotely possible is now reality: the NBA has suspended its season indefinitely. Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

In a shocking piece of information, Utah Jazz star center Rudy Gobert has reportedly tested positive for coronavirus.

This diagnosis comes after Utah’s game against the Thunder in Oklahoma City Wednesday night was postponed due to an unforeseen circumstance.

Gobert and teammate Emmanuel Mudiay were reportedly taken to a local hospital for a virus that the World Health Organization (WHO) classified as a pandemic earlier on Wednesday.

The good news here is that Gobert is in great physical condition. He’s not among those with a high risk of death pertaining to coronavirus.

From a broader league-wide perspective, it was noted earlier on Wednesday that games moving forward would be played without crowds in attendance. That can now be thrown out the window. The NBA announced shortly after this incident that it has suspended operations.

We will have more information as it becomes available.
