The Nets have officially signed center Nerlens Noel to a 1o-day contract, the team announced in a press release.

Noel, 28, was waived by the Pistons on Feb. 28. He ideally will add experience and depth behind starting center Nic Claxton.

Noel appeared in just 14 games with the Pistons after coming over in an offseason trade with the Knicks. Last season, he appeared in just 25 games.

But he played plenty for the Knicks in 2020-21, compiling averages of 5.1 points and 6.4 rebounds in 64 games. Noel is mostly known for his work at the defensive end, collecting rebounds and altering or blocking shots. He swatted a career-high 2.2 shots a game in 2020-21.

The No. 6 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, he has also spent time with the 76ers, Mavericks and Thunder.
