The Nets are stocking up on former Pacers who missed all of last season.
For the second time in less than two hours, they agreed to a contract with a free agent who fit that description. This time, it was free agent guard Edmond Sumner, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Sumner, 26, missed the entire year after suffering a torn Achilles. He was actually traded by the Pacers to the Nets in October 2021, then waived four days later. So in that sense, the Nets have merely decided to bring him back.
This time, though, they are hoping he can play.
The same goes or swingman T.J. Warren, who agreed to a one-year deal with Brooklyn earlier Tuesday, as we relayed here. In all, the Nets have made three pretty intriguing offseason moves as they seek out trades for Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Last week, they also acquired forward Royce O’Neale in a trade with the Jazz.
Sumne is 6-foot-4 and is known as a versatile player who can handle either guard position. He spent four seasons with the Pacers, averaging career-highs of 7.5 points and 53 percent shooting in his last healthy season of 2020-21.
It’s interesting to see what becomes next of the Nets, who are likely to undergo quite the roster upheaval. Keep it right here on Hoops Wire for all the latest developments.
