Nets expecting Kevin Durant to miss four to six weeks with knee injury?

It was reported Sunday morning that Nets superstar Kevin Durant was dealing with a sprained MCL in his left knee, which he suffered during Brooklyn's Saturday win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Brooklyn didn't provide a timetable for KD's return, but noted that he would have to undergo a "period of rehabilitation".

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the 11-time All-Star will miss four to six weeks.

"Durant underwent imaging on Sunday morning after Saturday night's injury, and a realistic benchmark for Durant could be a return following the All-Star break (Feb. 18-23), sources said. Nevertheless, the organization will err on the side of caution when it comes to Durant's return," Wojnarowski reported. "There was relief around the Nets that the injury wasn't more serious, and hopefulness that he will make a full return to health in plenty of time for the playoffs."

Point guard Kyrie Irving -- another member of the Nets' "big three" alongside Durant and James Harden -- is currently allowed to play only in road games because of New York City's COVID-19 restrictions and his status as being unvaccinated against COVID-19. Fortunately for Brooklyn, 11 of its next 14 contests are away from the Barclays Center, so barring injury, the Nets should have both Harden and Irving available.

Durant currently leads the NBA in scoring at 29.3 points per game. The Nets are second in the Eastern Conference at 27-15, just a half game behind the Chicago Bulls (27-14) for the top spot.

Brooklyn will play at 3 p.m. ET on Monday against the Cleveland Cavaliers (26-18).
