The Brooklyn Nets have dismissed head coach Jacque Vaughn and subsequently promoted assistant Kevin Ollie to the interim-head-coach role, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Vaughn, 49, had an overall record of 71-68 in two-plus seasons as the Nets’ head coach. However, Brooklyn has struggled this season with only 21 wins in 54 games, leading to the firing.

"To Joe Tsai, Clara Wu-Tsai, Ollie Weisberg, Sam Zussman, Sean Marks and front office, Nets coaches, staff, players, BSE family, and the entire Brooklyn borough: It was a pleasure being your Head Coach," Vaughn said in a statement. "I hope each individual I interacted with felt respected and valued. Just know I gave you everything I had every single day. Onto the next chapter. Amor Fati."

Vaughn will be replaced by the 51-year-old Ollie, who joined the Nets as an assistant coach this season. The 2014 NCAA champion coach with UConn will have an opportunity to try and turn the season around for Brooklyn with 28 games left in the year.
