Nets' Kyrie Irving: Kobe Bryant as NBA logo needs to happen

Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving indicated on social media earlier this week that he would like to see the NBA's logo changed from a silhouette of Jerry West to a profile of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

Following the Nets' 129-92 win over the Orlando Magic on Thursday, Irving discussed his thoughts about the league's logo further.

"We want to set a standard and precedent, like this is excellence," Irving said, according to ESPN's Malika Andrews. "Kobe Bryant. Logo. Yes. Needs to happen. I don't care what anyone says."

Vanessa Bryant appears to be on board with the idea, too, responding to Irving on Instagram saying, "Love this."

In a 2017 interview, West said he wished the NBA would change the logo. So, if the league changed it to Bryant, there would likely be no push back from the Hall of Famer.

Bryant and his daughter Gianna, along with seven others, died a little over one year ago in a tragic helicopter accident in California.
