Nets star Kyrie Irving to miss fourth straight game

Brooklyn Nets superstar guard Kyrie Irving isn't ready to return to the team just yet.

Greg Joyce of the New York Post explained on Monday that the Nets have ruled Irving out for Tuesday's game against the Denver Nuggets due to personal reasons. Irving first missed a contest against the Philadelphia 76ers last Thursday, roughly 24 hours after supporters of President Donald Trump engaged in a violent riot at the U.S. Capitol. Irving was also absent for matchups versus the Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Post has reported that Irving's current status is related to the riot. Brooklyn has thus far gone 1-2 without the 28-year-old in the lineup.

Brooklyn coach Steve Nash told reporters on Monday that he does not have any update on when Irving may return.

It's not all bad news for Nash and company, though, as two-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant played against the Thunder on Sunday after he missed several games because of a coronavirus-related quarantine

According to ESPN stats, Durant leads the Nets in scoring with 29.3 points per game. Irving, meanwhile, leads the team in assists (6.1) and player efficiency rating (27.03).

The Nets play at the New York Knicks on Wednesday.
