The Los Angeles Lakers were active early on in free agency and make multiple moves that they believe will give them a good chance to bring home title number 18 next season. One of those was signing former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Taurean Prince.

The new Lakers forward joined the Mason and Ireland Show on ESPN Los Angeles, 710 and talked about some of his goals for the season.

“I think it's perfect, that’s my mindset, taking pride in [guarding] the person in front of me… just whatever it takes to get the dub at that moment.”

Per The Mason and Ireland Show

This is great news for Laker fans as Prince is a long player with size, capable of guarding wings for opposing teams. It's something that the team has severely lacked over the last few seasons so Prince should make a big impact.

He's an above average defender in reality but with Anthony Davis backing him up down in the paint, he should be in good shape. His length allows him to not be bullied around and he has the ability to stay with his man.

In addition, Prince is also a very good three point shooter as well. Last season with Minnesota, he shot 38.1 percent from deep and he is a 37.2 career three-point shooter. He should be able to help space the floor and will likely get a ton of minutes due to it.

Head coach Darvin Ham preaches active defense and that is something that Prince will give each and every night. The fact that the Lakers got this guy for only $4.5 million is incredible and could end up being the steal of the offseason.
