The New Orleans Pelicans are in the midst of a crucial showdown against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night. The outcome of this game will have a significant impact on the playoff race in the Western Conference with just two games separating the Pels from Sacramento for the sixth and final guaranteed playoff spot in the West.

Things took a turn for the worst for New Orleans during the game after superstar forward Zion Williamson was forced to exit the game due to a worrying wrist injury.

New Orleans Pelicans News: Zion Williamson Suffers Wrist Injury Vs. Kings

Williamson was seen heading to the locker room just before halftime after falling awkwardly:

Zion immediately held his left wrist after using it to break his fall. It seemed like he was in some pain, which is likely why he headed to the locker room shortly after the play.

The good news here is that Zion was available to return for the third quarter. If he did suffer some sort of injury with this fall, then it appears that he has every intention of playing through it in this crucial showdown against the Kings.

Williamson has been delightfully healthy throughout the season and now would be the worst time for the Pelicans to lose their star — especially with Brandon Ingram set to return following a lengthy injury layoff.

Unfortunately, given his medical history, any sort of knock could be a cause for concern for Zion. This is a situation that will be worth monitoring as the Pels look to close out the regular season as strongly as they possibly can.
