The New York Knicks are still in contention for the 2023-24 NBA championship, as they just shrugged off the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs. But another tough assignment awaits OG Anunoby in the second round where they will meet the Tyrese Haliburton-led Indiana Pacers, who stunned the Milwaukee Bucks in the conference quarterfinals.

New York Knicks’ OG Anunoby Sounds off on Key Indiana Pacers Weapon

It will be a different battle for the Knicks, but the Pacers series offers some air of familiarity for Anunoby. For one, the former first-round pick played college basketball for the Indiana Hoosiers, so this series will be some sort of a homecoming for him. Moreover, Anunoby will be sharing the floor with his old friend during his time with the Toronto Raptors in versatile forward Pascal Siakam.

Via Zach Braziller of the New York Post:

“I know some stuff,” Anunoby said. “He’s a great player. I think everyone knows that. … He’s made a big impact. Plays both ends. Can score, he can rebound, he can pass. He can do everything.”

Anunoby and Siakam were teammates with the Raptors as recent as this season. They parted ways when Toronto decided to trade them ahead of the deadline; Anunoby was sent to the Knicks, while Siakam was traded to the Pacers.

The looming Knicks-Pacers series will bring a 90s feel to the playoffs, given the history of the two Eastern Conference rivals. Game 1 of the series is scheduled to take place this Monday at Madison Square Garden.
