UPDATE: The New York Knicks have officially waived Nathan Knight.

Nathan Knight is coming off a year where he appeared in 38 regular season games for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The 26-year-old averaged 3.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per contest while shooting 56.8% from the field and 36.4% from the three-point range.

He also appeared in two NBA playoff games, as the Timberwolves lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round (in five games).

This offseason, Knight signed a two-way deal with the New York Knicks.

However, Fred Katz of The Athletic reported (on Thursday) that the Knicks have waived Knight.

Via Katz: "The Knicks have waived Nathan Knight, league sources tell @TheAthletic. Knight was on a two-way contract. Knicks now have two two-way spots available after waiving Jaylen Martin yesterday."

Knight has played three seasons in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks and Minnesota Timberwolves.

His career averages are 3.7 points and 2.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 47.6% from the field and 26.5% from the three-point range in 108 regular season games.

He has also appeared in eight NBA playoff games and was with the Hawks when they made the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals.

As for the Knicks, they are coming off a year where they were the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.

They beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the NBA playoffs but lost to the Miami Heat in the second round (in six games).

The Knicks will play their first game of the 2023-24 regular season when they host the Boston Celtics on October 25.
