After getting three straight wins in their playoff series, the Denver Nuggets finally lost a game against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. This prompted All-Star big man Nikola Jokic to drop some sage horse-inspired advice in light of his team’s recent loss.

In Game 4 of the series, the Lakers went home with the 119-108 win over Mile High City. LeBron James took care of business when he tallied 30 points on 60 percent shooting from the field, five rebounds, and four assists. Anthony Davis posted a monster stat of 25 points and 23 rebounds, while Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell each added 21 points.

For his part, Jokic finished the game with a strong performance of 33 points, 14, rebounds, and 14 assists for the Nuggets. Michael Porter Jr. finished with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Jamal Murray shot a poor 39 percent from the field to notch 22 points in 39 minutes.

The win meant that Denver’s 11-game winning streak over the Lakers in around two years has been broken by the LeBron James-led squad. More importantly, it kept their season alive and prevented a sweep right in their home court. The Nuggets now have to steal the momentum back to their side if they want to dispose of Los Angeles right away.

Denver Nuggets Star Nikola Jokic Issues Sage Advice Amid Slow Start in NBA Playoffs

After the game, Jokic faced reporters and dropped a piece of advice he learned from horse racing. In a video shared by DNVR Nuggets on X:

As compared to their previous encounters against the Lakers, the Nuggets didn’t come out the door with guns blazing. They shot the ball poorly, had more turnovers, and got less offensive rebounds the whole game. As a result, the Purple and Gold got their first win against them in over two years.

With their Game 4 win, LeBron James and the Lakers stay alive in the series. But if Jokic is to be believed, it won’t matter to them because they aim to finish strong against Los Angeles.
