By virtue of winning the Most Valuable Player award, Nuggets center Nikola Jokic will be eligible for the largest super-max extension in NBA history, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

Jokic would be eligible to sign the super max contract worth approximately $241M in the 2022 or 2023 offseason. He’s not eligible to sign it this offseason because he is one year shy of the service year criteria. Jokic is in his sixth season after being drafted in the second round in 2014.

The breakdown of the super max contract provided by Marks, based upon a $121.5M cap, would look like this: 2023/24: $42.6M; 2024/25: $44.9M; 2025/26: $48.2M; 2026/27: $51.5M; 2027/28: $54.8M (Twitter links).

Jokic has two years remaining on his current deal — he’ll make approximately $31.6M next season and $33.6M in 2022/23.
