Young Denver Nuggets guard Monte Morris will soon learn never to poke a bear. It usually doesn’t end well.

In this case, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James is the bear.

Morris hit a three-pointer over James during Denver’s overtime loss to the Lakers Wednesday night. He had words for King James, at which point the Lakers superstar did not seem too pleased.

The Lakers immediately went on a 23-5 run after Morris hit this shot en route to winning in overtime. For his part, James tallied 32 points, 12 rebounds and 14 assists in a ridiculous overall performance.

One day later, Morris took to social media in an attempt to downplay the incident.

Talk about taking a step back and realizing the mistake you made. If this isn’t an attempt to save face, we’re not sure what is.

What we do know is James will remember the situation should Denver and Los Angeles square off in the playoffs.

James heads into the All-Star break averaging 25.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and a league-best 10.8 assists per game. We might have to start rethinking the MVP race.
