The Denver Nuggets have reportedly made a decision on DeMarcus Cousins’ future.
Cousins’ 10-day contract with the Nuggets expired over the weekend. The Nuggets would like to have him continue with them. They are planning to sign him for the rest of the season.
The Nuggets plan to sign Cousins on Friday to his new contract.
Denver’s next game is on Thursday at Sacramento. If Cousins does not sign until Friday, he would not be on the roster until their second game following the All-Star break, which would be on Saturday at home against Sacramento.
The timing of such a move would lead Cousins to miss a return to his old home in Sacramento. The timing also helps Denver save some money.
Cousins, 31, spent 17 games with the Bucks earlier this season. He was signed by Denver in January and has played in eight games with them since Jan. 23. The Nuggets are 8-0 with him, which helps explain their inclination to keep him around.
