The Orlando Magic are close to securing a sure spot in the 2024 NBA Playoffs , but they seem to have one point of concern at the moment regarding the health of a key member of the squad. That’s after forward Franz Wagner suffered an apparent lower-body injury during Sunday’s game at home versus the Chicago Bulls.

INJURY UPDATE: @OrlandoMagic forward Franz Wagner suffered a sprained right ankle during the third quarter tonight vs. Chicago. Initial X-rays were negative and Wagner is out for the remainder of the game.

Wagner sustained the injury in the third quarter. Before he exited the contest, the former Michigan Wolverines star was able to produce 16 points to go with four rebounds, three assists, and a steal in 20 minutes of action. The Magic also managed to buck his absence the rest of the way, as they defeated the Bulls, 113-98.

Orlando Magic About to End Franchise’s Playoff Drought

The Magic are almost assured of a playoff spot, as they are currently sitting on the third spot in the Eastern Conference standings with a 46-32 record. They are just a game behind the No. 1 Milwaukee Bucks, who have been struggling of late.

Orlando only has four games remaining on their schedule, two of which will have the Magic sharing the court with the Bucks. The Magic will next face the Houston Rockets on the road this Tuesday, with Wagner uncertain to be available for that contest.

On the season, Wagner is averaging 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per outing.
