On Tuesday morning the Indiana Pacers agreed to a blockbuster NBA trade.

In the proposed deal, Indiana would send Domantas Sabonis, Jeremy Lamb, Justin Holiday and a 2027 second-round pick to the Sacramento Kings for Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield and Tristan Thompson.

In making this move, the Pacers may have also signaled a desire to retain a piece who previously seemed redundant when Sabonis was still on the roster: Myles Turner.

Heading into this week, Indiana was widely expected to move Turner. Now? It’s debatable it will.

According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Turner is very much intrigued by the prospect of being given newfound freedom at the five and to play alongside a promising up-and-comer.

“The Domantas Sabonis-Tyrese Haliburton trade will likely have a significant impact on Myles Turner’s future with the Pacers,” he reported.

“Turner gets to play center now and appears thrilled with the idea of playing with Haliburton.”

The Los Angeles Lakers and three other teams have been pushing hard to acquire Turner for more than a month. Now that those plans are up in the air, it will be interesting to see how those squads re-adjust.

With two days to go before the NBA trade deadline arrives, things promise to only get crazier from here.
