The Philadelphia 76ers need all the support they can get if they will successfully come back from a 3-1 series deficit against the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs.

Following their 112-106 overtime win in Game 5, the Philadelphia 76ers have built momentum coming into Game 6 back at their home floor, and team icon Julius Erving called for everyone to bring the energy and support on Thursday.

“Come out and support our Sixers on Thursday. Our Philadelphia 76ers fans are the best, and we’ll prove it on Thursday. Guys go fight and win on Thursday,” wrote Erving on his Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter) pages.

There’s a chance that Julius Erving might watch Game 6 in Philadelphia on Thursday, which should motivate the team and energize the fans. After all, the former UMass product is arguably the greatest player in Philadelphia 76ers history, leading them to their last NBA title in 1982-83 and having his No. 6 jersey retired on the rafters.

The Philadelphia 76ers-New York Knicks series has been as close as it gets

Despite the New York Knicks leading 3-2 over the Philadelphia 76ers in this series, Philadelphia has outscored New York 534-532 over the first five games, as pointed out by John Schuhmann from NBA.com.

Tyrese Maxey went off in Game 5, tallying 46 points, nine assists, and five rebounds, including the game-tying triple to force overtime in 52 minutes of action.

Joel Embiid had a triple-double of 19 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists, and four blocks. However, he only went 7-of-19 from the field and turned the ball over nine times.

Tobias Harris also recorded 19 points and eight rebounds, while Kelly Oubre Jr. was the other double-digit scorer for the Philadelphia 76ers with 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor.
