Tyrese Maxey has been on the rise for the Philadelphia 76ers since the season began. But even though the first-time All-Star guard is slowly getting recognized, he isn’t immune to wild elbows to the face when he faced off against Brandon Miller and the Charlotte Hornets recently.

In that particular game , the 76ers took the 109-98 win at the Wells Fargo Center against Charlotte. Maxey led his team by posting 30 points, three rebounds and four assists. Kelly Oubre Jr. helped seal the victory for Philly by making 22 points on 50 percent shooting from the field.

The Hornets, meanwhile, saw Tre Mann go for 21 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals. In contrast to Charlotte’s starting point guard, Brandon Miller had an awful game where he posted six points, including missing all of his two attempts from beyond the arc, two rebounds, and one assist.

Even without Joel Embiid, the win helped Philadelphia retain the East’s seventh seed with 37 wins and 30 losses. The Hornets, on the other hand, have dropped to 13th place with a 17-51 record.

Philadelphia 76ers Star Tyrese Maxey Jokingly Shares Thoughts on Brandon Miller’s UFC-Like Elbow

It’s no secret that there will be some sort of physicality between NBA players during an actual game. But in this case, it looks like Miller threw an elbow toward Maxey’s face, one that would make any UFC star proud. The 76ers star then shared his thoughts about the incident after the game in a post by Paul Hudrick on X:

Tyrese Maxey jokes that he’s “going to take UFC lessons” after taking the elbow to the face. Said he knew Brandon Miller didn’t do it on purpose, Hudrick posted.

Shortly after, Miller was ejected from the game for the errant elbow he threw during the second quarter. Officials slapped him with a Flagrant 2 foul, which warrants an automatic ejection.

Whether Miller threw that elbow intentionally or not will never be known. Fortunately, Maxey is a good sport and it looks like there won’t be any beef between the two young stars anytime soon.
