Cameron Payne has been in the NBA for eight seasons.

Over the last four seasons, he has been with the Phoenix Suns, and this past year he averaged a solid 10.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest while shooting 41.5% from the field and 36.8% from the three-point range in 48 regular season games.

On Monday, the Suns officially announced that they had completed a trade that sent Payne to the San Antonio Spurs.

In addition, they completed a deal with the Orlando Magic that only featured draft-picks.

Via The Suns: "OFFICIAL: The Phoenix Suns announced that the team has completed a trade with the San Antonio Spurs, acquiring a future protected second-round pick in exchange for Cameron Payne, a future second-round pick and cash considerations.

The Suns also announced that the team has completed a trade with the Orlando Magic, acquiring three future second-round picks in exchange for a future first-round pick swap."

Payne helped the Suns return to being an elite team.

After a ten-year drought from the NBA playoffs, the franchise has made the postseason for three years in a row (and made the Finals in 2021).

This past season, they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round (in five games) but lost to the Denver Nuggets in the second round (in six games).

In addition to the Suns, Payne has also played with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers (he was initially the 14th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft out of Murray State).

His career averages are 8.0 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest while shooting 42.0% from the field and 36.3% from the three-point range in 327 regular season games (he has also appeared in 53 NBA playoff games).
