Earlier this week, the Charlotte Hornets waived Theo Maledon.

The 22-year-old has played in 13 games so far this season and is averaging 4.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest while shooting 28.8% from the field and 16.7% from the three-point range.

On Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that the Phoenix Suns will claim Maledon.

Via Charania: "The Suns are claiming guard Theo Maledon off waivers on a two-way contract, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Backcourt depth for Phoenix. The 6-4 PG is in his fourth NBA season, averaging nearly eight points and three assists for his career. He was waived by Hornets this week."

Maledon was the 34th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and is in his fourth season in the league.

He has also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder (in addition to the Hornets).

His career averages are 7.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest while shooting 37.3% from the field and 31.0% from the three-point range in 173 regular season games.

As for the Suns, they are 13-12 in their first 25 games, which has them as the tenth seed in the Western Conference.

They are 4-6 over their last ten games and in the middle of a two-game losing streak.

On Sunday evening, the Suns will host Jordan Poole and the Washington Wizards in Arizona.

At home, they have gone 6-8 in 14 games, while they are 7-4 in the 11 games they have played on the road.
