Only two games into the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers series, and it already looks like the most entertaining matchup of the NBA playoffs so far, especially after Jamal Murray’s epic shot over Anthony Davis that sent social media into hysterics.
Game 2 of the series was jam-packed with entertainment. For a majority of the game, it looked as if the Lakers had finally found a successful counter to the Nuggets’ potent offense. At one point the Lakers would even have a 20-point lead. The Nuggets were shooting horribly from three-point range, while the Lakers had corrected their three-point woes from Game 1. It looked like Los Angeles was going to cruise to a Game 2 victory.
Enter Jamal Murray.
Murray was one of the Nuggets players who just seemed like he couldn’t buy a basket. But late in the third quarter, the sharpshooter seemed to find his rhythm, and his shots were starting to fall. Slowly the Nuggets began to eat away at the Lakers’ lead.
After a missed shot from the Lakers’ LeBron James, the game remained tied with 16 seconds left. Michael Porter Jr would snag the rebound, and the Nuggets chose to not take a timeout. Murray dribbled around with the clock winding down and Anthony Davis closely guarding him. Murray would dribble the ball to the right and fire a fadeaway, falling-down two-point shot to give the Nuggets the win.

Following the shot, Murray was sent tumbling backward into the arms of his swarming teammates. In his postgame press conference, Murray even admitted he didn’t see the shot land.
“I jumped pretty high. I faded a lot. And I just lost balance and fell. And I just saw the ball over the rim,” Murray said via The Denver Post’s Bennett Durando. “I think AD was in my way. Or somebody was in my way. And I just heard everybody scream, and that’s how I knew it went in.”
Just as quickly as Nuggets fans were to praise Murray for the shot, they were just as quick to troll Davis and the Lakers.
The Nuggets now take a 2-0 series lead over the Lakers as Games 3 and 4 will be hosted in Los Angeles later this week. This also marks the Nuggets 1oth straight victory over the Lakers.
