On Monday night, the Detroit Pistons took on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. This is the first time these teams faced off since their massive trade at the deadline.

The Knicks made a big splash on deadline day, acquiring Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks from the Pistons. In return, Detroit landed a package of players and draft picks. Among the guys brought in from New York was young guard Quentin Grimes.

New York ended up winning the game in a nail-biter, but it was filled with controversy. There was a questionable no-call in the final 30 seconds after Ausar Thompson picked up a potentially game-winning steal. Because the refs didn't call a foul, the Knicks were able to recover the ball and score in the closing seconds.

After the game, Grimes shared his thoughts on the final play. He feels things would have been different if the roles were reversed and Jalen Brunson was the player struck.

“I saw it from directly in the view behind us,” he said. “I saw two guys ran into him, into his legs. Like you said, it was not a guarantee. “If [Jalen Brunson] and them was on the other side of that call, they getting that call."

In just his second game with the Pistons, Grimes put together a strong outing against his former team. He played 24 minutes off the bench and posted a stat line of 14 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and three blocks.

Following his debut earlier this week, Monty Williams talked opened up on how high he is on Grimes. After this impressive outing against the Knicks, the new addition appears to be finding his rhythm following his recent knee injury.
