Pistons' ugly season somehow manages to get even worse with latest news

Very little goes right in a 12-57 season, and the Detroit Pistons are proof of that.

Whether it was their record-setting 28-game losing streak — the longest single-season losing streak in NBA history — or star point guard Cade Cunningham's clutch mistake the other night, nothing has worked the way the Pistons brass likely envisioned it this season.

Now things are getting even worse, with the news that high-upside rookie Ausar Thompson and three-point shooting big man Isaiah Stewart will miss the rest of the season.

Thompson left a game against the Dallas Mavericks on March 9 with what seemed to be an illness. Per the team, he's now being treated for a blood clot.

“I’m just glad the doctors caught it,” Pistons coach Monty Williams said, per James Edwards III of The Athletic. “From all of the information that I’ve gotten, they’re handling it. … It’s a medical situation, but I’m glad they caught it.”

Stewart suffered a hamstring strain in Monday night's 119-94 loss to the Boston Celtics.

That will keep him out for the rest of this lost season, likely as a precaution more than anything. At this point, other than a 13th win, what do the Pistons have to play for anyhow?

Outside of an injury to Cunningham, things couldn't possibly get any worse for Detroit this season.
