Prominent member of Celtics organization reportedly wanted to fire Brad Stevens during regular season

Brad Stevens is now the Boston Celtics president of basketball operations. One member of the organization might not be a fan of the Indiana native landing a front-office position. 

According to SNY's Ian Begley, a "prominent member" of the Celtics organization wanted to fire Stevens immediately at one point during the regular season. Danny Ainge, who stepped down as president of basketball operations on Wednesday, reportedly was against firing Stevens, Begley adds. 

Stevens, 44, has never held a front-office position. He has been with the Celtics since 2013, leading the team to the Eastern Conference Finals three times. 

Stevens is expected to lead the search for Boston's next head coach. According to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes, Los Angeles Lakers assistant Jason Kidd and Atlanta Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce are expected to be head coaching candidates for the Celtics. 

Ainge had been with the Celtics since 2003, playing a vital role in building the 2008 championship team. His departure from the organization should come as little surprise, with the Celts entering a crucial offseason.
