Raptors to sign center Alex Len to one-year deal?

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Toronto Raptors are signing free-agent center Alex Len to a one-year contract worth $2.3 million. 

The news comes after the Raptors lost Marc Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers and Serge Ibaka to the Los Angeles Clippers. 

In an initial response to those departures, Toronto agreed to a two-year, $14.3 million deal with Aron Baynes that includes a team option for the second year, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Len played with the Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings last season and appeared in 55 games during the pandemic-altered campaign. The 27-year-old averaged 8.0 points and 5.8 rebounds. 

Baynes, meanwhile, is likely to become Toronto's starting center after spending a season with the Phoenix Suns. The 33-year-old officially traded by the Boston Celtics to Phoenix in July 2019 averaged career bests with 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds, and Baynes also drained 59-of-168 three-pointers (35.1%), all personal highs in those categories. 

As noted by an ESPN story, Baynes didn't participate in the NBA resumption held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex after he tested positive for COVID-19 and then dealt with a right knee contusion.
