The Toronto Raptors have waived guard/forward Ron Harper Jr. from his two-way contract, the team announced in a press release.
Harper suffered a left shoulder injury Thursday while playing for Raptors 905 in a G League game at the Long Island Nets. He is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on the shoulder next week.
Harper, 23, is 6-foot-6 and signed a two-way deal with the Raptors in July 2022 after going undrafted out of Rutgers. He signed another such contract this past offseason.
He has appeared in a total of 10 NBA games, including one this season. He’s the son of former NBA guard Ron Harper, the No. 8 overall pick in the 1986 draft who went on to stand out for the Cleveland Cavaliers and win championships with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers before retiring in 2001.
Toronto now has an available two-way spot and is expected to fill it this weekend.
