The Philadelphia 76ers have re-signed 23-year-old guard Rayjon Tucker on a two-way contract. While Tucker has been a minor player in this league, he has performed in a very memorable way for us in this previous season and in the G League.

In terms of what a two-way contract is, it means that a player is allowed to both spend time playing in the G-League while allowing him to play with the 76ers, allowing for him to spend time in both leagues as he develops. Teams get two of these each year and having Rayjon Tucker on this one feels like a potential steal.

Tucker averaged 2.4 points, 0.4 assists, and 0.8 rebounds this previous season in about less than 5 minutes per game. Tucker’s shooting splits have been mediocre but show many signs for improvement with his solid shooting form. His percentages from last year were 50.0/28.6/73.7.

Tuckers’ time with Sixers’ Affiliate Blue Coats

However, in the g-league is where Rayjon truly shined for us, playing 33 minutes per game, averaging 19.4 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, and 4.1 assists per game. In the G-League he carried shooting splits of 43.0/30.3/82.8, showing a willingness to shoot for his team.

His production in the G League and his production in games is the reason why so many Philadelphia fans love Rayjon Tucker. PSN writer Sean Barnard wrote a great piece here about how Tucker was the under-the-radar pick for the Sixers to resign. After coming over from the Utah Jazz, Tucker immediately provided a spark to the Blue Coats en route to their G-League Finals appearance last season.

He does a great job not being afraid to shoot the ball and adds to the Sixers’ floor spacing. Tucker will continue to play an important role stepping in when needed while also continuing to develop under Coach Connor Johnson down in Delaware.
