Report: 76ers expected to part ways with Brett Brown after being swept by Celtics

The Philadelphia 76ers have plenty of questions to answer in the coming days and weeks, and it appears changes are going to be made.

Philadelphia's season came to an end on Sunday after being swept in the first round of the NBA playoffs by the Boston Celtics, and head coach Brett Brown's job is in jeopardy.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Sixers are expected to part ways with Brown after seven seasons.

Brown had been on the hot seat for most of the 2019-20 campaign, and Philadelphia's poor first-round performance against Boston put things into perspective for the team. On top of that, the 76ers' injury struggles throughout the season certainly didn't help Brown's case as he struggled to keep the team afloat.

Brown took over as head coach of the Sixers in 2013 and survived Sam Hinkie's "Process" period of tanking for high draft picks. The additions of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid helped Philadelphia immensely, but after three seasons without a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals, the team is ready to give someone else a shot as head coach.

The 76ers now will be looking for a coach who can mesh the styles of Simmons and Embiid as the duo has failed to connect during Brown's tenure.

If Brown is canned, Kenny Atkinson, Tyronn Lue, Jason Kidd and Jeff Van Gundy are among the more popular names who have come up in multiple teams' head coaching searches, including the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks.
