The Chicago Bulls plan to add Peter Patton to their player development staff, per a report from K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago Saturday.

Patton, a Chicago native who played for DePaul in the early- to mid-90s, most recently served as a shooting coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks, where he worked closely with Jalen Brunson and Luka Dončić.

The 49-year-old learned under world-renowned shooting coach Chip Engelland, currently an assistant with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Engelland previously spent 17 seasons with the San Antonio Spurs and is credited with helping develop Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker, and Dejounte Murray.

Patton shot 39.6% from long range during his career with the Blue Demons before he moved on to play professionally in the CBA and overseas.

It remains to be seen what Artūras Karnišovas will do to beef up the Bulls’ outside shooting this summer. But bringing Patton aboard is undoubtedly a step in the right direction for a team that’s ranked dead last in three-point attempts the past two seasons.
