Report: Cavaliers 'quite confident' Collin Sexton will return

With the NBA draft in the rearview and the frenzy of free agency now calming, it's looking more likely that restricted free-agent Collin Sexton will stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers

According to Spencer Davies of basketballnews.com, the Cleveland Cavaliers expect to have Collin Sexton back with the team for at least the 2022-23 season.

"The team source is quite confident that Collin Sexton will be back with Cleveland since free-agency money is drying up," Davies wrote. "Either the two sides will reach an agreement or "at worst," Sexton will sign for the qualifying offer (worth $8,559,356)."

Ahead of free agency, rumors emerged that Sexton would have "multiple suitors" this offseason. However, at the end of the season, Sexton was vocal about wanting to stay in Cleveland.

"I want to be here in Cleveland. I love the organization, love my teammates and whatever happens I know that Cleveland was really good to me," Sexton said in April. "I know this is the place that helped me get to where I am today, and I know I want to continue to be a part of this winning culture."

Sexton missed the final 71 games of the regular season, recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Limited to just 11 games, Sexton averaged 16.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.
