Report: Former Defensive Player of the Year Joakim Noah to retire after 13 seasons in NBA
Joakim Noah reportedly is set to retire after 13 seasons in the NBA, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The veteran center was waived by the Los Angeles Clippers in early December and remains unsigned. Per Charania, Noah plans to retire with the Chicago Bulls after playing his first nine seasons with the franchise.
The Bulls selected Noah with the ninth pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. He helped the franchise make the playoffs every season from 2009-15, including a run to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2011.
The 36-year-old also played for the New York Knicks, Memphis Grizzlies and Clippers. He averaged 8.8 points, nine rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 49.1% from the field. He was a two-time All-Star, 2013-14 Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-Defensive Team three times.
